THE YETI FIELD GUIDE TO FEELINGS

AN EMOTIONAL LITERACY PROJECT FOR UPPER SCHOOL CHILDREN

Emotional Literacy: The ability to recognise, understand, handle and appropriately express emotions.

We would like to invite you to take on the challenge to help your school develop their Emotional Literacy skills ... a vital tool for positive mental health.

Emotional literacy plays a big part in everyone's day to day life; it helps us learn to self-regulate, to become resilient, to develop social skills, to have the ability to express our own emotions and to form positive relationships.

The ability to understand about feelings and emotions isn't something you're born with, it's a skill that needs information and support to learn just like any other.

BECOME IMAGINATION ENGINEERS

We're going to ask you to crank-up your imaginations and turn emotions into 'beasties' ... What might a sadness beastie look like?  ... How might a nervous beastie behave? ... How might you tame an anger beastie?

As we're creating a resource for younger pupils in your school, we're going to use storytelling and character-based learning as tools to help get your information across in an understandable way.
