People with a fixed mindset believe that their intelligence and abilities are traits fixed at birth like their hair or eye colour.
In a fixed mindset, people believe that talent alone creates success and become focused on looking smart or talented at all costs. They believe the only path to success is to look smart at all times and hide what they feel they fall short on. The fixed minded thinker becomes defined by what they believe they cannot do, and become limited by what they think they are not capable of.
